Hot Water Repairs and Replacement in Yagoona

Yagoona is post-war family territory, big blocks and solid brick homes that have been lived in for decades. Natural gas runs through most of Yagoona, so there is real choice at replacement time.

Repair first where it makes sense

Terry does not replace a system that has a cheap fault in it. Common Yagoona repairs he sorts in one visit include:

• Electric tanks running cold or lukewarm from a failed element or thermostat
• Gas units where the pilot won't stay lit or the thermocouple has gone
• Continuous flow units throwing error codes or running only warm

Heat pumps and the rebate

If a home is already electric and the owner wants lower running costs, a heat pump is worth a look. It uses about a third of the power of a standard electric element. On its own a heat pump runs around $3,500 to $5,500 fitted, but NSW and federal rebates on a swap from electric can knock roughly $1,000 to $2,500 off, applied as an up-front discount through an accredited supplier rather than a claim you chase later.
